When it comes to booking an electrician to complete an EICR in Leicester it may be a daunting and unfamiliar task. There may often be unscrupulous electricians out there that will charge as little as £50 for electrical certificates to be completed BUT 99% of the time you will pay a heavy price in the end !.
Any Leicester electrician completing the EICR is to assess the installation for safety concerns and report those safety concerns to the person ordering the work. The installation and any defects found will be graded using three categories, C1, C2 and C3.
C1 means ' Danger present. Risk of injury. Immediate remedial action required.'
C2 means 'Potentially dangerous - urgent remedial action required.'
C3 means 'Improvement recommended'
the likelihood of your £50 EICR electrician finding many many defects that need repairing and classified as either C1 or C2 is extremely high. Normally in their small print you will have agreed that they will be employed to rectify any remedial works required.
I am not the cheapest EICR electrician in Leicester BUT I a complete the inspection in a fair and safe manner and do not going 'Looking' for problems in order to generate work, I assure you I am busy enough!.
There may be times of course when the installation is unsafe and needs remedial work BUT you are not obligated at all to employ me to do the work and are more than welcome to ask other electricians to quote for the necessary repairs.
I am a Landlord myself who self manages so prefer not to see other LL's being taken advantage of. If you decide that the 'price' is the top priority for getting your EICR completed please make sure you read the terms and conditions and ensure that the electrician carrying out the EICR is not authorised to complete any necessary repairs and then issue you with a large invoice.
